GCM-1-S gas check maker kit for -S press turns
.030 x 1 inch wide copper strip into gas checks or short
pistol style half jackets. The operation takes two stages.
First the strip is punched to make a disk in the disk
cutter die. Then the disk is formed into the cup in the
cupping die.
A more effective way to scrape fouling from the bore on
each shot is to use the BGK-1-S base guard kit, which
is similar to a gas check but presents a burnishing tool
edge to the bore, which cleans out fouling and leading instead
of merely ironing over the top of it (as a gas check does).
Base Guard disks are also available in bags of 1000 so you
do not have to make them, in standard calibers.
The gas check maker can be ordered in any diameter from .22
to .458. Larger gas checks can be made in the CSP-2 press, or the Hydro Press, usng the GCM-1-H gas check maker kit.
